It's been a tough winter. Amanda lost both her beloved cats - Sister Eartha Kit, age 16 , and Carlos, 15, to congestive heart failure and kidney failure respectively.  They had a long and happy life though and they will be missed.

It's a three-floor two bedroom with a den-like loft overlooking the hardwood floor common area with a wood-burning open-face stove.  Add in a washer,dryer, and dishwasher and we're in the lap of luxury. We are going to miss Ballard and Sunset Hill though.  We've really enjoyed this Norwegian neighborhood immensely. At last I heard Netflix had postponed its streaming movie service indefinitely.  Which just goes to show how distracted I've been since there's been lots of news and lawsuits with Blockbuster since then.

You can hear the live recording of the show on their new site.  Not to be missed is Dan Savage's story. We enjoyed Mates of State  - the band touring with them -enough to download some tunes.

Last week I sat through my first root canal.  I'll spare you the gruesome realities but the good news is I'm doing ok, the doctor could save most of my tooth -#3 molar, and I didn't really feel any great pain during or after the procedure. I first heard of this when Dr. Spencer Wells did an interview on our local PBS affiliate.

Basically they will look for particular genetic markers, haplogroups, and be able to trace what they call "deep ancestral history."
